THE TEMPLE OF ZEUS
Bodrum History
A location steeped in history and blessed with outstanding natural beauty
Carian Bay lies in an outstandingly beautiful area of Turkey, steeped in thousands of years of history and traditions. The Carian people were well established here even before the Ancient Greeks. Some 5,000 years ago the Sumerians described the Carians of western Anatolia – today’s Turkish Riviera - as “the people living in the sunny garden by the sea”
For generations shepherds have grazed their flocks here and the cobbled paths, trodden over hundreds of years, are still visible in the hillside. The organic contours of the natural environment provided protection from the elements when needed, while the lush vegetation yielded food for shepherds and their flocks alike. The bay itself is home to an incredible number of species of fish and has been trawled by fishermen through the ages.
The cultural history of the area and bay is the inspiration behind the design of Carian Bay. The development draws its influences from the past, with the original cobbled paths and walkways being preserved and incorporated into the fabric of the plans. The homes will complement the stunning natural landscape, built using locally-sourced materials. With emphasis on sustainable building techniques, the homes at Carian Bay have been designed by one of the world’s leading architects and will be the finest in the region.
Unique homes in one of the most beautiful parts of the world.
